ACUE, the Association of College and University Educators, came to our Education Team with a big task. They needed 250 minutes in a few months, or 10 minutes of finished work a week. seeking to make animations that would educate and engage their course takers. They needed Over the next year we ended up producing 28 more videos for their online classes.
These weren't your typical whiteboard videos - most animations we produce are 1-3 minutes in length, but these videos ran almost 10 minutes, and we had to produce them with the same schedule at the 1 to 3 minute videos. It was definitely a difficult task to get the videos done in time. But with a lot of hard work and a streamlined production process, we worked with ACUE to deliver each video before their deadline.
With the videos being in-depth instructional videos, our team had to find creative ways to make them feel relevant and relate-able. We wanted each lesson to have a metaphor that rain from the beginning to the end. For instance, one video was about how to grade effectively, which included combining things. So we came up with a baking theme, which was relatable, accurate, and very fun.
As we started producing more and more of these videos for ACUE, we wanted them to have the same look and feel, so course takers would recognize them and look forward to watching them. So our team treated the videos like a TV series, creating a cast of characters, several professors, that we brought back several times throughout the videos. Like all cartoon series we needed a series brand guide and story bible to keep the same look and feel for the visuals and storylines of the characters.
ACUE partnered with colleges around the country, who many times would have a difficult change that had to be done quickly. Changes like turning a small classroom into a lecture hall, or changing the professor character throughout the animations. We quickly and efficiently made these changes for them.
We're proud of the animations, and we think we produced a great series of videos that are resonating with the professors watching. It's awesome to hear from ACUE that they're widely praised by the course takers and professors. We're looking forward to more future success. hmmm.... maybe that could be with you? ;-)
